<p>The varsity had to come from behind to win their match. After losing the first set, 22-25, the Lady Crusaders won the next 2 sets 25-13, 25-21. Helias was able to build leads of 10-6, 14-8 and 16-12 only to see Hermann come roaring back to take a 18-16 lead behind 5 straight points off a very tough serve which included 2 aces and 2 overpasses Hermann was able to convert into kills. Helias was able to tie the score at 18 all, 19 all and 20 all but missed two serves which allowed Hermann to build their biggest lead of the night to 24-20 before winning the first set. The Lady Crusaders cut down their errors in the second set and took advantage of Lady Bearcat miscues cruising to a lead of 15-6 forcing Hermann to call a timeout. Hermann would never get closer than 7 points before Helias forced the third set tie-breaker. The Lady Crusaders held Hermann to only 2 points on their serve in the set. At one point, Helias was able to earn a side out on 6 straight rotations. The third set was almost a repeat of the second as Helias jumped to 6-2, 12-6 and 17-8 leads. However, Hermann (the defending Class 2 State Champion and currently ranked #4) did not go quietly. They steadily chipped into the lead with strong serves and pulled to within three at 22-19. The Lady Crusaders repelled the surge and closed out the set and match. Helias&#39; serve receive passing was put to the test by Hermann and passed only 1.80 on the night. The Lady Crusaders used some tough serving on their own to record 9 aces and attacked effectively, 31 kills on .329 hitting efficiency to gain a hard fought win.
