Counseling Department:
Summer Math Tutoring ~ Helias students, Matthew Rundle and Sanjay Roberts are offering a program to help make the transition into high school classes smoother for students who struggle in mathematics or are looking to prepare for more advanced classes. The program will be especially helpful for incoming freshmen and junior high students. For those interested, they will also have material to help students with the math portion of the ACT. Frosh Camp:
The Frosh Camp for incoming Helias freshman will take place on Saturday, August 7th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. It is an all-day event, which will give new students an introduction to Helias through games, activities, prayer, music, sports, lots of food, and good times. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet new classmates and the student leaders at Helias. There is no cost to participate, but we ask all participants to fill out a registration form. Incoming Freshman Parent Orientation:
The incoming freshman parent orientation will take place Saturday, August 7th, during the 2010 Frosh Camp. The orientation will begin at 9:15 a.m. and will last about one hour. Parents will hear from counselors, teachers, Mothers' Club representative, administrators, and front office staff about what to expect at Helias Catholic High School. Parents will have an opportunity to ask questions and to become a little more familiar with Helias. We look forward to seeing you there.

Life Teen Mass:
As of September 5th, 2010, Â the Cathedral will have Life Teen Mass every Sunday at 5:03 p.m. There will be Life Nights once or twice a month and those dates will be posted at a later date. Please pray for this ministry to flourish. Life Teen Mass is for EVERYONE not just the youth. ALL are welcomed.

cents) for sale in the business office.
Helias pennants are available in the school office for $7.00. This is a fundraiser for the
cheerleaders.
We are in need of 8 1/2 x 11 copy paper. Clean on one side
would also work. We are also in need of envelopes - business size and manila.
Mothers Club News:
Mark your Calendars for the Helias Mother’s Club Formal Dress “Resale†to be held at Helias’ Old Gym on Sunday, August 29 (this is a date change from the school calendar), from 1-3 p.m. You may drop off dresses, shoes and accessories from 9-12, shop from 1-3, and pick up unsold items and money from 4:30-5:15. Cost is $3 per dress and $1 per accessory brought in to sell. If a dress is sold, an additional $5 will be donated to the Mother’s Club and $2 will be donated for each accessory sold. Music Department:

Partners for Success Booklet:
The Partners For Success is an online booklet Helias created in conjunction with Christian Brothers College High School in St. Louis to help give parents a little guidance in working with their high school age children. We hope this is of value to you and it helps in answering some parental questions. The booklet is in PDF which can be downloaded and printed. It can be located under 'School Updates' on the homepage of our web site. We still have a few booklets in the school office if you would like to pick up a copy. Please contact the business office and we will be happy to reserve a booklet for you. There is no charge for the booklet.
School Calendar for 2010-11:
The new calendar can be found on our website under 'School Updates'!!! Please note that we are changing our faculty meetings from the second Tuesday of every month to 7:30-8:30 a.m. every Friday. We will follow a snow schedule every Friday; students will have to be here for a 9:00 a.m. start. The school will still open at 7:00 a.m. just as every school day. Teachers will be assigned for supervision to monitor students. For students who have no choice but to arrive early, they may use this time to study, catch up on work, read, eat breakfast, and meet new friends.

Service Hours:
There has been a change in Service Hours Requirements beginning this school year. Fifty (50) mandatory service hours for each student graduating from Helias Catholic High School is to be completed by Christmas break of the student's senior year. In the event a student wishes to graduate a semester early, hours will be due by November 1st. In the transitional years, Seniors (Class of 2011) will need 12 hours by Christmas break; Juniors (Class of 2012) will need 24 hours by their senior Christmas break Sophomores (Class of 2013) will need 36 hours by their senior Christmas break; This year's Freshmen (Class of 2014) and all classes after this will need 50 hours by Christmas break of their senior year. The service hour form and details on service hour requirements can be found on our website.
Helias receives many requests for students to assist with community service projects. Those requests must be in writing or by e-mail. Rather than reading them on announcements, they will be posted on the bulletin board across the hall from the campus ministry office. If you are in need of service hours you can check that bulletin board for opportunities.
Service Hour Opportunity! Mother’s Club Formal “Re-Sell†Sale ~
Girls interested in volunteering at the formal dress resale on Sunday, August 29, should sign up on the form hanging by the office. We ask that no more than 1 name appear on each line. This is the number of volunteers that will be needed in each time slot. We will need help from 8:45 am-12 pm with tagging, sorting and hanging dresses prior to the sale. We will also need help from 12:30-3 pm with re-hanging and returning dresses to their racks during the sale and helping with clean up after the sale from 3-5:30 pm. This will count as service hours. Sign up or prior arrangements must be made with either Debbie Knaup or Jean Klindt in order for you to work at the formal resale and receive service hours. You will be notified on what shift you will be assigned to help with.

Sports Physicals ~
St. Mary's Creektrail Clinic at 2511 W. Edgewood is pleased to announce they offer sports physicals at the discounted price of $30. Payment (check, cash or credit card) is due at the time of service. Their office is unable to submit to insurance companies. Call them anytime throughout the year to set up your appointment - 573-634-4133.
Capital Region Sam B. Cook Healthplex at 1432 Southwest Blvd. will be offering sports physicals for 7th through 12th grades on Tuesday, July 13 and Thursday, July 22 from 5:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. Pre-registration and parental consent is required. Call 573-644-7878 for an appointment or sign up on www.crmc.org. Registration began June 1st. The cost is $20 and helps to defer the direct cost of providing the program.
Athletes returning to Helias next year ~ If you choose the option of selling five cards you will be paying a $100 athletic fee or if you can sell 15 cards you will not have to pay the athletic fee. If you take 15 cards, you will be expected to sell them, not change your mind and decide to only sell five and return the rest. As always, if you can sell more, that would be great and much appreciated. But please do not take cards that you will not be selling.
The Helias Letter Jackets will now be handled through the school Book Store. Samples are available to try on for size.
A lot of athletes and parents have been asking about purchasing patches for their letter jackets. Helias provides letters and numerals, but purchases patches only for state championship teams. Any of patches you may wish to buy for a letter jackets are available through CMA or Johnny Mac's. To order from Johnny Mac's call Melissa at 1-888-966-6098.
